Visitor Management Program

Many organizations — including both private and public sectors — are reluctant to impose restrictions on visitation, not wanting to give the impression of inaccessibility. Freedom of movement instills confidence and an open culture. But in today’s world, safety and security must strike a proper balance.

At the very least, simple management procedures should be established for all security posts. Visitor names and ID should be recorded. Visitors should be escorted and potentially screened with use of a walk-through magnetometer or hand-held magnetometer. In addition, bags, briefcases and parcels should pass through an Xray device. Finally, common sense security dictates that while visitors on premises, they should always display a proper visitor’s pass.
